Busa vs 14R
04/09/17 4:45 PM

I went to the strip today and came up against a Busa. I'm not sure what year it was (maybe someone here knows?) Anyway, I made two mistakes:
** First I let it bog a little too much off the line
** Second, I shifted right before the finish line and I should have held the gear.

I know I can get a faster 60' if I raise my rpms, but I've tried that and while I have delved in the 1.4x range--I'm not consistent when I launch like this. When I let it bog, I can consistently run 1.5x to 1.6x. Also, the elusive 8.9xx that I've been aiming for has eluded me once again (I ran a 9.054 @ 157 mph). I'm thinking that maybe if I had not shifted at the finish line that I would have made it--at least it's nice to tell myself that...

I guess when you wreck the competition like that, your 60 foot times are all you need to worry about. LOL yes, I think he had you by a few feet in first 2 seconds but after that you annihilated that busa. That silver is 2006. Good come from behind kill!

Thanks Rook. I must admit that I was very nervous on this run, but once it started it was a pure blast of adrenaline.

Nice man! That was a 1st gen busa you were against. 157 is really good mph! Get some more seat time, hold onto your clutch a little longer and get wide open ASAP and your et's will drop. Good job!

I know there's people with similar 14s that run a little faster. But damn..lol 9.0 is fast as heck! A little rider like you 135 lbs, with the torque/hp of a 14R there's just not much a Busa's going to have for you unless it's been significantly upgraded. If you had a Gen 1 it would've been a better race as far as the bikes are concerned, probably a little more dependant on the rider and setup. It's not like the Busa rider couldn't get a 14R, it's all fair in love and drag racing.
